This picture shows the dashboard of my car. The dashboard has a number of instruments that illustrate the concepts from class. The speedometer is a good example of these concepts from class being applied in the real world. The speedometer measures the instantaneous speed of the car. However, it does not show the average speed of the car, nor does it show the velocity. The odometer is the instrument we can use to determine the velocity. If you graph the miles traveled by the time it takes to go that distance we would have a standard position vs time graph. By finding the slope of the line we get the velocity. With this, we could make a velocity vs time graph and find the acceleration of the car over time.
